Absurdity of laws and its roots
Saturday, 06.16.2007, 08:16am (GMT)

Any law if due to it inadequacies infringe a man’s rights or causes loss, the institution that is responsible for framing such law and also the implementing authority should take the responsibility and compensate the victim adequately. After every such incident, the law must be amended to seal such inadequacies. After 50 years of our independence we do not see any such thing.
Leave about the inadequacies there are many absurd laws like DV, 498A etc which are made by our lawmakers with the least thought in their minds, which are now troubling thousands of innocent people. In fact victims of such discriminatory laws suffer for years in silence and have to survive disastrous consequences. Why should innocent people be victimized for some thing that they are not related. Don’t these politicians see absurdity in these laws ? No, they don’t. They look for either money or votes.  Then what are they doing in the office? It’s a course on democracy. Laws these days are made at will and with out any public consent or participation. Its has become a fashion for governments to makes laws, if not anything else they can show these laws as their achievements during their term. Parties are also using this take political mileage, which is proven wrong in the recent elections. As always politicians will not learn (as most of them are uneducated!), they will repeat it time and again. This is simply misuse of the power.
It will be in the national interest that there should be a control on making such laws – as national/people’s interest comes last to politicians. There should be some sort of opinion collection, polling in at least few major cities – not from bureaucratic, not from the academicians but from the common man who will bear it, in the true spirit of democracy. Political involvement should be there only to bring the law and its merits to people; it will be up to people to decide. In this age of information technology it is surprising to see that governments are making no effort to gather views from the people. Opinions can be collected via poll on the Internet with some authentication mechanism (Id on PAN number/passport number etc). It looks to me that politician are trying hard to keep their vicious shackles on people. There should also be an autonomous agency/institution, which will look in to the working of the laws and recommend amendments to government every year as needed. A country with 1 billion population deserves such institution.
Let us see how many news channels are true to the nation. How many of them bring such serious issues to the public instead of stinking masala news.
